Band of Horses
So I know I am the last person on earth to post about this band. If it makes you all feel any better, I have had these songs for a little while, but I forgot about them. Then while working late last night this song came on and it reminded me how brillant they are. Band of Horses remind me of My Morning Jacket. Especially his voice. This song doesn't even attempt to rock like The Jacket does, but that's not the goal of this band. At least in my mind. Plus pitchfork, way back in March, gave this album and 8.8. Anyway it is quite the enjoyable tune. If you check out their website, there are other songs for download and they say a fall tour will be announced soon.
MP3--Band of Horses--Funeral.
By the way, I keep telling you people about Moon Colony Razorblade. You should be shopping there instead of Target. Cash Im coming soon and I need the Band of Horses cd and the Oh No! Oh My! cd.

New Bright Eyes rarities comp coming out in October.... HELL YES
I'm glad someone else see's the band of horses/mmj comparison. though the horses will never, ever match up to the jacket.
I have been digging the Band of Horses podcast from KEXP.org. There were in the studio recently and played 4 songs. Very good stuff and they seem pretty cool. I can hear the MMJ thing as well, and at first that turned me off (I wrote them off as a bit of a rip off) but have since changed my mind. I am digging the Walkmen right now. Cannot wait to see them in Brooklyn with Dr. Dog and Elvis Perkins in August.
Joey, Midlake review and mp3's coming soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
Jeff Thanks for the heads up about KEXP. Im heading over there now to listen. And that Walkmen record is simply brillant. It's definitely a grower. I didn't love it like I do now upon first listen. But ironically, Bows and Arrows was the same way for me.
I have not purchased the Walkmen's newest yet - I have been listening to a live set of their's on NPR. They interest me because at times, quite often during that live show, they sound like The Afghan Whigs (who are my favorite band of all time). I just won the CD on eBay and look forward to hearing it. Hopefully that same *sound* is captured on record.
By the way, I posted the Out With The Kids July music picks today. Check it out.
